Sponsor Proposal

Based on our discussions with Laurie Zendejas at GPJ, we have prepared the following preliminary proposal for your review and feedback. We’re happy to discuss and address any questions you may have, prior to presenting this to your client.

We understand that IBM Analytics North America’s objectives include:

  • Relationship-building with senior executives and decision-makers, with titles including but not limited to Chief Data Officers, Chief Data Scientists, and Chief Analytics Officers at enterprise (defined as 1,000+ employees) and other prospect accounts in North America who have purview over unified data governance, insights, and analytics.
  • Cities desired include New York, San Francisco, and possibly other ‘tier one’ North American cities.
  • With regard to achieving the objective of relationship-building, IBM desires intimate events that provide:
    • Networking opportunities
    • Pre-arranged one-to-one meetings
    • Guaranteed introductions
    • Facilitated discussions

Based on these objectives and our prior successful experiences with IBM’s Analytics, iX, and Digital Business Groups, the CDO Summit series provides a solution that is well-aligned with your client’s goals.

CDO Summits are carefully-curated, intimate events participated in and attended by an elite set of key senior digital, data, and analytics decision-makers. These events typically range in size from 150 to 300 people.

Below are specific examples from previous CDO Summits where we have worked with IBM to give them high profile visibility to our base and their prospects:

2017 D.C. CDO Summit

Dr. Inderpal Bhandari:
Global Chief Data Officer at IBM
The CDO Club recognized Inderpal as the
U.S. Chief Data Officer of the Year 2017
Nancy Hensley:
Director Growth and Strategy,
IBM Analytics

2017 NYC CDO Summit

Bob Lord:
Chief Digital Officer
IBM
Kevin Eagan:
Chief Digital Experience Officer
& GM Digital Platforms
IBM Digital Business Group
Neil Whitney:
VP, Digital Platforms,
IBM Digital Business Group

2014-2016 NYC CDO Summits

Kevin Eagan:
General Manager,
IBM Digital at IBM
Steve Abrams:
Distinguished Engineer & Director
with Watson Life at IBM
Ben Edwards:
VP of Global Digital Marketing
at IBM (now at PayPal)

CDO Summits are arranged and conducted specifically to afford meaningful relationship-building opportunities for our clients.

We work closely with our key sponsors to arrange speaking, panel, networking opportunities, one-to-one meetings, guaranteed introductions, facilitated discussions, group dining, breakouts, entertainment, and other activities designed to facilitate and enhance meaningful, long-term relationships.

Depending on your client’s interest and desires, we could structure 2018 CDO Summits in North American cities that reflect the following:

  1. TITLE/PRESENTING sponsorship: This would provide naming rights (for example, “CDO Summit, presented by IBM Analytics“), and includes other open-market sponsors.
  2. ECOSYSTEM sponsorship: Includes only IBM ecosystem partners as sponsors.
  3. EXCLUSIVE sponsorship: These events would have no other sponsors but IBM.

Given the limitations of the budget discussed, below you will find a proposal for item #1 – TITLE/PRESENTING sponsorship.

We’re happy to discuss the nature and costs of options #2 and #3 above, with you and your client, at your convenience.

Based on our present understanding of your client’s goals and needs, below is our preliminary proposal.

The TITLE/PRESENTING sponsorship (“CDO Summit, presented by IBM Analytics“), will be a custom-curated, relationship-building event specifically tailored to IBM’s requirements.

In addition to the event itself, we have also included an optional on-going outreach campaign (“Total Online Engagement Campaign“) to build and maintain mind-share with our broader CDO Club membership, our deeper email list, and our extensive social media platforms both prior to and following the physical events.

Combining the physical event with the wider email promotions to our Club members, listserve, and social media connections will provide IBM with an opportunity to reach a much wider audience over a longer period of time.

We’re happy to discuss these items and tailor them appropriately to your client’s needs.

See the spreadsheet below for the sponsorship components and prices:

Sample emailers and blog posts that we have done for IBM in the past include:

  • September 2016: As an IBM Insider, Mathison covered IBMs “DataFirst” launch in NYC, which we subsequently promoted to our list and Club members with:

Combined with the physical summit, this 360-degree Total Online Engagement Campaign gives the sponsor an opportunity to gain mind share prior to and after the event itself, for maximum exposure.

Below we’ve included our Sponsor Portal, which includes more detail on our 7-year history, accomplishments, and endorsements. In one convenient place, we’ve assembled all the information you need to plan and build a compelling business case for participating with the CDO Club and CDO Summit as a sponsor.

We would be happy to address any specific questions you may have, provide additional information, or revise this proposal to suite your needs.

Thank you for the opportunity.

Sincerely,

CDO Club: CDO of the Year

The CDO Club gives the annual “CDO of the Year” award to inspiring digital and data leaders. The award recognizes both Chief Digital Officers (since 2013) and Chief Data Officers (since 2016), in four regions – the US, UK, EU, and Australia/New Zealand.

See select recipients below, and all winners of the CDO of the Year award here.

CDO Club: Hall of Fame

The CDO Club is the only organization tracking the ‘CDO to CEO career path’ – aka, the Hall of Fame – those CDOs who have become CEO/President or Board Director/Non Executive Director (NED).

Since 2011, more than 100 CDOs have become CEO, a startling statistic considering there are only a few thousand executives who hold that exact title.

See our Hall of Fame page for all those who made this career move, and for more information.

Sponsor Impact Report

We provide our partners with targeted reach, impact, and engagement – before, during, and after the Summit itself.

Our Sponsor Impact Reports summarize a campaign’s effectiveness across all media – traditional, mobile, and social. We put the metrics into one report to make it easier to calculate an ROI on your sponsorship.

The report measures reach from the combined effect of our emailers, blog posts, media coverage, press releases, social media, and Twitter and Google ad campaigns.

For example, see our Sponsor Impact Report for the six months surrounding the NYC CDO Summit on April 29, 2015.

Our Sponsors

We started the CDO Summit in 2013, and in just four short years, we have attracted some of the world’s most prestigious organizations as sponsors, including Accenture Digital, Accenture Strategy, Adobe, BBC, Bloomberg, EY, Harvey Nash, IBM, McKinsey & Company, and Microsoft, among many others.

Below are some of our 2017 sponsors, or click here to see previous year’s sponsors:

Endorsements

Sponsoring the CDO Summit / CDO Club will help you build relationships, reach your target audience, and grow your business.

But don’t take our word for it, see what past speakers, attendees, and sponsors had to say about us.

Check out our Endorsements here.

Sometimes a conference comes along that hits the trifecta – hot topic, high-caliber attendees, and stellar location.
The first Chief Digital Officer Summit reached that mark with ease, and I look forward to attending the next one.

– Eric HellwegManaging Director, Digital Strategy/Editorial Director at Harvard Business Review

David, here’s a handy C^3 test for conference value: Did I learn at least three new perspectives? Check. Did I meet at least three interesting people? Check. Did I take back at least three relevant pieces of news I can use? Check. Flying colors for the Chief Digital Officer Summit 2013! Thank you so much, and yes, I’d be very pleased to participate next year!
Perry Hewitt: Former Chief Digital Officer at Harvard University
