Coppy Holzman is the founder and CEO of Charitybuzz, the world’s leading online charity auction
site. Holzman has used his twenty-five years of experience as a senior level Internet, retail and consumer products executive to grow the Charitybuzz brand to 110 countries, with more than 2,500 nonprofit partners and 100,000 affluent bidders around the world. Holzman’s “for profit for purpose” business model, coupled with a commitment to white-glove customer service and innovative technology, is helping to change the future of philanthropy.
Holzman created Charitybuzz to lead nonprofits toward a new, collaborative era of fundraising. With the goal of harnessing technology and pop culture for good, he launched the world’s first dedicated charity auction site out of his home in April 2005. He had only one rule: “do good, live well.” Thousands of online charity auctions later, Charitybuzz has raised more than $100 million for nonprofits and helps the world’s biggest celebrities, brands and philanthropists give back to the causes they care about most.
Prior to launching Charitybuzz, Holzman was one of the founding members of Webvan.com, where he defined the brand, helped raise capital and wrote and executed the business plan that ultimately resulted in the largest e-commerce launch in United States history. Under his leadership, following its initial IPO, Webvan had a market cap exceeding $7 billion and raised almost $1 billion to finance its expansion plans. Holzman’s responsibilities included all merchandising, buying and marketing activities including supervision of content management and all website publishing. He also spent many years in senior level corporate retail positions serving as Senior Vice President for Federated Department Stores responsible for Global Sourcing and Production as well as Merchandise Vice President for R.H. Macy for both apparel and home.
Holzman was named a 2011 finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, a 2013 winner of The GREAT Tech Award and a 2013 winner of the SmartCEO Future 50 Award. He has been a panelist and speaker for organizations ranging from Bloomberg to The Clinton School of
Public Policy. Holzman proudly serves as a member of the Christie’s Charity Board, as well as a member of the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights Leadership Council.He holds a B.S. in Economics and International Business from the Wharton School of Business and currently resides in Manhattan.
